WHY IT IS GOOD TO BE IN A DUMP.

Know that feeling when you feel like you're sitting in a dump and the rest of the world is moving ahead of you? (You must have seen it in movies atleast where the main character seems to be moving in slow motion and the background is blurred - exactly that,  but not so aesthetic) You know, basically, nothing is working in your life,  you aren't meeting deadlines, you don't want to talk to anyone- that sort of stuff. I had one recently and my dump taught me things.

There's a word in navigation vocabulary for that, I believe  - doldrums. The Ancient Mariner (Samuel Taylor Coleridge's wonderful creation) will know what I'm talking about. Regardless of what happened to the mariner and his crew, the doldrum let them think. It gave them time to shape and reshape their beliefs. That's what a dump is...  It's a phase. It'll pass. Like some wise man said,  it might pass like a kidney stone, but pass it will.

And why is it good?
It lets you think. True, it could bring about your worst and despairing  thoughts. But if you choose,  it could become a ground for introspection. Being out of the rat race that is life, helps you to hear your thoughts. It tells you where you went wrong. It tells you who your true friends are; more importantly,  in the words of  Santa from Rise of the Guardians - it lets you discover your CENTER.

And once you discover these things, you'll try to get up. You push, you crawl, kick and finally come out. Maybe when you come out,  you'll take time to catch up with the world. But trust me, there's something you got from that dump that'll propel you to go on. The fact that the place you fell when you were behind the world gives you energy to catch up to the same world is ironical and doesn't make sense. But luckily for me,  I don't feel the need to always make sense.  And a lot of wonderful things (like maybe the whole Harry Potter Universe) don't always make sense. Because  I think I've used enough pop culture reference for one post,  I'll stop now. But before I go, to everyone who feels they're in a dump,  let me say this  - Your doldrum will pass,  your ship will set sail and when it does you'll become more aware of the speed it could take.  YOU'LL COME OUT STRONGER.  JUST DON'T GIVE IN.
