WE LEARNT.
Change is the only unchanging aspect of the world! - Heraclitus
My favourite quote for extempore competitions as it could apply for almost all topics. Other than this , I knew next to nothing about change.
But now I know, change is a learning experience and is one of the best teachers. And how did I know that? I saw my mom driving after a few months today. When I had to move to Delhi from my home for college, I thought I was the only one who's going to be accustomed to new things (even then I didn't think the mere act of CHANGE of location in itself, had any capacity to teach).
My mother who had a slight inhibition about driving (despite being a good driver), always depended on me when it came to reversing the vehicle especially. She used to scold me when I didn't pay attention to it because she thought I had to help her do it.
Visiting her after 3 months, I stood behind the gates to 'guide' her to take the vehicle in reverse gear and waited for her to ask me for directions. And I waited..... But she never called. Looking for the vehicle anxiously, I saw my mother moving the car perfectly in reverse ON HER OWN. I did feel bad for a second that she didn't ask for my help. But that fleeting second went and I saw that my mother learnt. College was supposed to help me fly on my own, but little did I know it was also going to provide wind under my mom's wings. We both learnt different things but through the same instance of change and it will propel us to grow, evolve and adapt. Change, if for nothing else, should be encouraged for its potential to teach, and my mother taught me that in those five seconds when she did something alone that we usually did together.
